I started
SouthScanner with a rather selfish intention initially. After moving from
the North-East I wanted to create a group where regional frequencies could
be collated and discussed. The onset of the Farnborough airshow allowed
a great expansion of the group, and it has been going strong since.
It may seem
as though sometimes there is little action going on in SouthScanner. I
tend to stick to a few little rules myself for when I do and don't post:
- If it
is a new frequency to you, check the most recent PROMA
files section. Is it new there? If yes send a post, Paul
will add to the files when time permits.
- If your
new frequency is in the PROMA
files, but you feel that the current activity warrents attention
then post it to the group.
- If your
new frequency is in the PROMA
files, but the current description is incorrect or needs ammending
then post to the group. Again if it seems reasonable then it will be
ammended when time permits.
- Do I have
a question that relates to scanning in general that I feel may be better
directed to this more regional group rather than on of the national
groups?
- Is my
question related to a very local area, as there is always someone in
SouthScanner just down the road, no matter where you are located in
the South of England.
- Finally,
have I tried the other resources at hand? For example the other PROMA
files available, or a search engine such as Google
or Yahoo. One great resource is
the SouthScanner archive. Try searching within the group for your specific
frequency or query. As the group has been around now for over a year
there may well have been other posts relating to your frequency or topic.
You don't
have to stick to these rules though, they are only what I follow as a
guideline so that other members inboxes don't end up clogged every time
by the same questions.
As I have always said, if you do have a question and would like the answer
POST it. I and others will always endeavour to give you the best answer
that we can, thats what the groups here for.
